We couldn't believe our luck when SS Shula delivered her third filly, Soleil DH, a grey. We aimed to pick out the El Shaklan line in Shula's pedigree with this mating, by breeding her to the triple Estopa stallion Redwood Lodge Calais. Long time breeder Hansi-Heck Melnyk of Serenity Arabian Farms said "El Shaklan was always one of my favourites. I saw him going Top Ten at the (USA) Nationals. He is truly an outstanding stallion, a par excellent sire and grand sire. A magnificent stallion indeed."

Redwood Lodge Calais is a NZ National Reserve Champion stallion by Om El Abadan, an Australian and Saudi Arabian National Champion Stallion, Nations Cup and World Reserve Champion Stallion, who has in turn sired International and World Champions, including the famous Espano Estopa. Om El Abadan was out of the exquisite matriarch Bint Estopa, and sired by the World Champion Camargue, who pedigree expert Arlene Magid described with the words "his ethereal beauty and presence like no other horse in the aged stallion class. He has been on my mind ever since, as a standard of Arabian perfection to which all other horses must compare." Redwood Lodge Calais is out of the beautiful Redwood Lodge Cabreaa, in turn by GG Magnetism, a full brother to US and Canadian Top Ten Stallion AN Magno, and out of an El Shaklan daughter. Calais is a typical representative of his family, and has bred on very successfully, being the sire of Euralea Eleazar (2007 National Champion colt, 2006 National Reserve Champion colt), Euralea Encore (2007 National Champion junior gelding, 2006 National Champion colt) and CA Torino Calais (2007 National Reserve Champion junior gelding).

Soleil DH has huge presence and movement. She has excellent tail carriage, great depth of body, a smooth topline, short cannons with good bone, and an attractive head that will be at it’s best when she is a mature, pure white mare. She has a natural ability to collect, and for this reason we look forward to riding her when she is older. Soleil has entered the show ring once, and garnered a Top Five National Champion Filly award.
