Bint Matala

Al Saaheb x NC Matala

Straight Egyptian *Low Nazeer/Asil mare

Bint Matala is a very big bodied mare with a nice jibbah and tail carriage. She has a long and curvy neck that ties in clean to a big, well-placed shoulder. Bint Matala has ample bone with well-conformed straight legs.

Bint Matala’s sire is a non-Nazeer stallion sired by Sahlih, who has an extensive and successful English showing career. Her paternal granddam Asmarr was a non-Nazeer mare who produced AK Amiri Asmarr, who would go on to produce Thee Desperado, one of the most prolific Straight Egyptian stallions of all time.

Bint Matala’s dam line traces to the legendary Makhsous who was one of the leading Straight Egyptian sires with a high percentage of his offspring winning national titles, and also Asadd who was an English Pleasure Champion. Interestingly, she also traces to Gohara in her tail female line, who was a daughter of the prolific racehorse Balance. It was very unusual for a mare to race in Egypt which indicates that Gohara had special promise, having won a race in 1969 and placed third in another.
